Victoria Gabrielle Li, London-based Visual Artist

Victoria holds a BA in Fine Art from Camberwell College of Arts and an MA in Fine and Decorative Arts and Design. Her practice is grounded in a deep engagement with painting as a transcendent medium—one that bridges the temporal and the eternal, the sacred and the cosmic.

Victoria’s work is driven by a fascination with the timeless allure of 24-karat gold leaf and the symbolic use of circular motifs. These elements serve as visual metaphors for transcendence, preciousness, and the interconnectedness of all things. Her paintings draw inspiration from the grandeur of biblical narratives and the vast mystery of the cosmos, creating a unique visual language that reinterprets sacred themes through a contemporary lens.

Gold leaf plays a central role in her compositions, not only for its luminous quality but also for its spiritual resonance. Victoria combines this with rare and historically significant pigments such as lapis lazuli and vermilion. The deep celestial blue of lapis lazuli evokes the infinite expanse of the heavens, while vermilion—vivid and powerful—symbolises passion and spiritual depth.

Circular motifs appear throughout her work, echoing the cyclical nature of the universe and serving as symbolic portals into cosmic rhythms. These forms reinforce the meditative quality of her pieces, inviting viewers to contemplate their place within a broader spiritual and universal context.

Victoria’s practice is not a reproduction of traditional religious imagery, but a reinterpretation—an effort to bridge the sacred with the contemporary through materials that carry historical weight and metaphysical significance. Her paintings become luminous meditations on the eternal human pursuit of meaning, offering a space where the divine and the cosmic converge.

Through her refined use of material, symbolism, and narrative, Victoria Gabrielle Li creates works that function as monuments to the mystical intersection of creativity and faith. Each piece invites viewers on a contemplative journey, encouraging a deeper connection with the celestial and the sacred that lie beneath the gilded surface.

Victoria prefers to use the artistic moniker 'Blairria,' a combination of her own name and her favourite TV character from childhood.
